It was named by Gamel Moore, known to listeners as DJ Mel, the founder of WMEL and an established radio host in his own right. DJ Mel not only helped bring the show to life with its unforgettable name but also continues to support the program as its engineer—adding his own flavor to each broadcast from his studio in Baltimore MD.
