Patricia "Sweet Pea" King

Meet Patricia – Queen of Friday Night
Since 2013, Motown Memories with Sweet Pea has been lighting up the airwaves, and at the heart of it all is the award-winning radio host herself—Patricia King, better known as "Sweet Pea"!
Born in Chicago and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, graduating from high school in Hempstead, NY. Sweet Pea inherited her love for music from her parents. She began singing at the tender age of four. By the time she was nine she studied music theory and sang in countless choirs—both church and school—throughout her life. Her deep-rooted passion for Motown was sparked when her father gave her a copy of Please Mr. Postman by The Marvelettes, while her uncle gifted her Meet the Supremes and Where Did Our Love Go by The Supremes. But it was her birthday trip to Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theater for the Motor-town Revue that sealed her destiny.
From her early days harmonizing in gospel choirs under the mentorship of legendary voices to becoming a beloved presence on the airwaves, Sweet Pea has devoted her life to celebrating the music that shaped generations—sharing its soul, stories, and enduring magic with listeners worldwide.
A multi-award-winning Radio Personality, a Ceo, an author, producer, and the writer of three stage productions. Sweet Pea has earned her crown as "Queen of Friday Night" with loyal fans—affectionately known as Patty’s Pep Squad—tuning in each week to groove, reminisce, learn, and celebrate the legends and unsung heroes of Motown. She's not just playing records—she's preserving history, celebrating culture, and keeping the spirit of Motown music alive. It's been said that "She's not just the flame, she's the whole doggone fire!"

Patricia is more than just a host—she's a musical historian, a visionary, and a fierce guardian of the
Motown Legacy.
